Michael Celbar
(b. 1947 - d. 2016)
Michael Celbar, a gifted Binghamton NY artist of strong vision and originality, worked in a wide variety of mediums. At his death, he left an inspired legacy of hundreds of art works that often express his deep vision of a dark, strikingly beautiful world.
THE COLLECTION
Knowing his artwork would not be discarded and lost forever, Michael left the entirety of his work to his long time friend, Gabriel Bobek. The Collection contains over 500 pieces of this prolific artist’s body of work across a wide range of mediums — photography, acrylic, ink, oil pastel, monoprint, computer art, silkscreen, photo collage, cardboard collage, and large scale cardboard cut-outs.
RETROSPECTIVE
In association with Broome County Arts Council a retrospective of Michael’s work launches on June 2, 2023 at Artisan Gallery in Binghamton, New York. This year-long Retrospective can be seen throughout the Tri-Cites and will include artwork for sale from the over 500 pieces within the Collection.
